Zoom for Government is a FedRAMP Authorized SaaS service operating at the Moderate baseline, specifically designed to meet the requirements of federal agencies. It has achieved Provisional Authorization from DISA for Department of Defense Impact Level 4 and is managed by U.S. persons only.
Zoom for Government incorporates stringent security measures, including 256-bit AES-GCM encryption for data in transit, compliance with HIPAA and CJIS regulations, and advanced in-meeting security controls. It is also subject to continuous compliance monitoring under FedRAMP guidelines.
While both platforms offer similar user experiences, Zoom for Government operates in a dedicated U.S.-based GovCloud infrastructure, designed to meet federal security requirements. Updates for Zoom for Government may be released on a separate schedule compared to the commercial version.
All data centers and storage locations for Zoom for Government are based in the Continental U.S. (CONUS), with customer-generated data stored exclusively in the AWS GovCloud.
Zoom for Government is primarily designed for federal agencies, but it is also available to U.S. state and local government customers as well as other approved businesses and organizations that support government missions.
A: Major outages are rare, occurring only a few times a year. Minor issues can happen more frequently.
A: Most outages are resolved within a few hours. Extended outages lasting more than a day are extremely rare.
